I’ve talked about where we live recently, it has been a lovely change of pace after living in New York, San Diego, Philly and the shoulder-to-shoulder “suburbs” of New Jersey. When we moved to lower slower Delaware four years ago we got caught up in the friendliness. There’s no traffic and no taxes. You’d be smiling too if that’s your new reality.
Unfortunately, it’s going to get tricky really soon. The boys are not far off from school and the problem living in an area with almost no taxes is education really doesn’t get the attention it needs. Case in point, we recently had a politician knock on our door. We said hello and seemed like a nice fella but even though our kids were doing circles around us at the time, he didn’t bring up the subject of education or schools. Really?
Since then, we’ve been getting mailings from him twice weekly and again not a mention of the most important subject we face and he even had his grandkids in the picture. So he’s not getting my vote. Sure his opponent didn’t really want to talk about it either. That’s just how they are around here.
So it’s inevitable. We’re moving and probably in the next 12 -24 months. We’ll document that process, I’m sure but until then we’re enjoying everything we can about Lower Delaware.
Here’s our weekly video recap, including a wedding I shot along the beaches here, our local Halloween Parade in Selbyville and just some messing about. I was hoping to the the Antares rocket launch but if didn’t make it to our eye level before exploding, Next time.
